Mulan DisneyBound Outfit Inspiration

Updated: Aug 27, 2021

Did you see the live-action Mulan? Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I prefer the animated, song-filled version. Before you come at me, let me explain.

**Spoiler alert**

In general, I'm a fan of all the live-action remakes and am giddy with anticipation (okay and a tiny bit of trepidation) for the release of the live-action The Little Mermaid, which just wrapped filming. But as I watched Mulan and grasped that there was no Cri-kee or Mushu it hit me that part of what I love about the animated movies and therefore miss about the live-action remakes is the laughter. Once I put my finger on it, there was a similar vibe of falling just a bit flat with Aladdin because there was no Iago. And before you pop off about how it would have been too much to create talking parrot or dragon I will remind you there was a GENIE and this is Disney we're talking about! Have you seen the characters in Star Wars or the live-action The Lion King??

If you want to recreate this look yourself, links are below! If you do or you want to share your Mulan-inspired look please tag me so I can tell you how ready-to-save-the-dynasty you look.

What about you? Do you stan live-action remakes or prefer animated movies? Follow me on IG for more Disney (+Harry Potter) related fandom, ideas, and unpopular movie analysis.

**a note about DisneyBounds inspired by ethnically diverse characters. Do your research and stay far away from anything that could be considered cultural appropriation (for example, costumes of Maui from Moana were quickly pulled from shelves when Polynesian communities expressed concern over the sacredness of their tribal tattoo art traditions. I will also never create a DisneyBound look based on Pocahontas. ) We can all do our part to be informed and respectful.

Stay magic, friends.
